Recently, Google announced the completion of their new web indexing platform known as Caffeine. The search giant felt the need to develop this system due to the growing rate of new content, media, news, and products introduced to the web every second. Internet users have also become more demanding of instant and accurate results. With this upgrade, the Google search engine now provides 50% fresher search results than before. What does this mean for you? Now, content posted on the web has a much higher chance of being indexed by Google and appearing on search pages. We tested the system with a recent blog post. The post was not only indexed within minutes, but quickly ranked first page for a query on its title.

Good News For Webmasters

Now more than ever, webmasters can leverage content and media to increase exposure for their sites. Just how powerful is the Google search algorithm? It picks up hundreds of thousands of pages every second in congruence. The rate of pages picked up by Caffeine would equate to paper stacks growing 3 miles high every second. Therefore, if you’re looking to improve the value of your website, consider blasting out valuable content that links back to your site. Google is hungry for content and media it deems relevant to users. Actions such as blog posting, media syndication, and producing more site content will be very beneficial in light of the new indexing system.

How Does Google Work Anyhow?

The internet is a big place with lots of information. For this reason, Google makes it easier for searchers to find relevant webpages, news, images, media, and products. How does this search engine sift through all the clutter? Take a peak at this very informative video from Google’s Matt Cutts.

There are a lot of companies out there who claim to know how to get your website to show up on the search engines. How do you know whether a company is qualified or not?

Google has recognized this same issue, so they have created a certification process for companies that allow them to pass certain tests that will demonstrate product knowledge and an ability to manage large scale paid search engine advertising campaigns.

You can find the requirements for certification here, but they basically say the following:

A Google Adwords Qualified Company must have at least two Adwords Qualified individuals (people who have taken the Adwords test – about 2 hours long – and passed with an 75% accuracy).

A Google Adwords Qualified Company must show that they can manage a certain dollar amount over a three month period. In the USA, that dollar amount is $100,000.

A Google Adwords Qualified Company must abide by the Adwords terms & conditions and stay in good standing.

Any company that meets these qualifications is then allowed to display the badge at the top of this post that links to a Google site that authenticates this link. Some less than reputable companies have hijacked this image, posting it on their site and either not linking it to that Google page or linking it to a different page entirely. Always make sure that link is there, because it’s Google showing that they still actively endorse that company.

Keep in mind that this certification only applies to paid search placement and there is no certification for organic placement or search engine optimization. Also, this certification only applies to Google, not Yahoo, Bing, or any other search engine (though Netbiz offers advertising with those companies).

Remember that the best policy for doing business with any company is doing your due diligence (check out the Netbiz iVouch page). Find out who they do business with, how long they’ve been around, and all the rest. It’s buyer beware in today’s market, so be careful!

You’ve just signed up with Netbiz for Search Engine Placement. Your sales rep told you we would get you on the first page of Google or Yahoo, and we guarantee it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Here are a few things you should expect after getting signed up.

It takes 3 – 5 days to go live.

Our Placement department creates a new account with Google for each new client that we have. It’s a time intensive process, but it allows us to have full control of your account and the many features that are part of Google’s advertising program, Adwords.

Google has an automated system that reviews each of it’s advertisers websites to make sure that it meets certain quality & relevance standards. Initially, Google may review the site and bring it down temporarily, so you may see your site up and then come down again right away. If this happens, please be patient while the process happens. Your site will be up again in a day or two. For this and other factors, it can sometimes take up to 10 days to go fully live after you are signed up with us.

You can help.

Any advertising campaign is a collaborative effort. We can get people to your front door and when they get there, it’s your opportunity to seal the deal. Usually the first step is people’s first impressions of your website. See this post on 7 ways to improve your website for more info on how to make sure your website will entice customers to make the next step.

After your website, make sure whoever answers your phone is trained to say the right things to your customers, as well as asking where they heard about you. Often our clients don’t know that they’re being found on Google because the client calls them and doesn’t mention it!

There will be some adjustment.

Google advertising system is dynamic, so it is often necessary to make some manual adjustments to your campaigns within the first month for the campaign to reach optimal performance. Factors affecting where you show up on the page include: the quality of your website, the text of your ad, who else is advertising and how much they are spending.

Customer Service is here to help

You will probably have some questions about your account. We have many points of contact at Netbiz. You are always welcome to call your sales rep, or you can call customer service.

Additional Solutions

Netbiz has additional solutions available for other internet marketing needs. If you need a website or search engine optimization services we can help you. In addition we have a Premium Account Management team for an exclusive group of clients. If you are interested in Premium Account Management services, please contact your sales rep.
